What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is a body-centred approach to healing that recognises the connection between mind and body. Rather than just talking about experiences, somatic practices help you tune into physical sensations, release stored tension, and restore balance to your nervous system. Learn more about how somatic therapy helps with anxiety, stress, chronic tension, and trauma.
Do I need to be physically fit?
No special fitness level is required. Our practices are accessible to most people and can be adapted to your needs. If you have specific physical limitations or health concerns, please contact us before booking so we can advise whether our offerings are suitable for you.
Is it normal to feel emotional during a session?
Yes, it's completely normal. Somatic practices can release emotions that have been held in the body. You might experience crying, laughter, or other emotional expressions. Our facilitators create a safe, non-judgmental space for whatever arises.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer full refunds for cancellations made at least 7 days before the workshop. For cancellations within 7 days, we offer a credit towards a future workshop. If you're unwell on the day, please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you. See our full cancellation policy for details.
Can I attend if I'm pregnant or have a medical condition?
Some somatic practices are contraindicated for pregnancy and certain medical conditions. Please contact us before booking if you're pregnant, have cardiovascular issues, epilepsy, psychiatric conditions, or any other health concerns. We're happy to discuss whether our offerings are suitable for you.
How is somatic therapy different from counselling or CBT?
Counselling and CBT work primarily through conversation and cognitive understanding. Somatic therapy works directly with the body and nervous system to release stored tension and restore regulation. You don't need to talk about or analyse your experiences. Many people find the two approaches complement each other well. Learn more about our approach.
How many sessions do I need?
Many people notice a shift after a single session. For lasting change, we recommend attending a few workshops to deepen your experience and learn to work with the practices independently. TRE™ in particular is designed to become a self-help tool you can use at home, so you're not dependent on ongoing sessions.
